Nordhouse Dunes | MI Boondocking

Michigan is absolutely stunning and if you're lucky, there's even a fair amount of boondocking to be had. Unfortunately for us, we need a pretty big spot and an accessible route to get to it. PLUS we really need cell service to be able to work. This limited us a lot but we did find this gem of an area. There are sites all along Forest Trail Rd near Morton Rd so you might want to scout first to find the best one.

Nordhouse Dunes Wilderness Area

  • Location: GPS: 44.12692, -86.38411

  • Length We Stayed: 5 nights

  • Solitude: no many campers

  • Services: none - dispersed camping

  • Cell Coverage: Spotty Tmobile coverage, AT&T was ok in some spots

  • Time of year we stayed: June

Some spots were tough to get into. The coordinates are a general area. We liked the close proximity to Lake Michigan and the town of Ludington.

Thank you for sharing this site. We have a 28ft camper and didn't think a spot for boondocking in Michigan would be possible. We will head out tomorrow to scout. :) Thank you
