Mogollon Rim (Payson) NF | AZ Boondocking

We found this site by accident as we were planning to take Rim Road to a different campground area. It turned out we were too early in the season and the Rim Road had not opened up yet. Instead, we went behind the visitor center and onto the Old Rim Road. It is a dirt road that seemed a bit sketch at first but led to several designated spots along the Rim that were beautiful! It's true boondocking with no facilities and not all the sites can accommodate larger rigs but the good news is there are lots of sites! We loved this area so much that we returned just a few weeks later again with family.
