Lake Mauzy | KY Boondocking

Updated: Aug 8, 2021

If you are looking for a great place to stay a few nights while traveling through Kentucky, this place is an excellent choice. This little fishing lake certainly has charm. We stayed during the winter so there weren't many people there and the campsites were nicely separated. The grounds were clean, well maintained and a park ranger was spotted driving by and checking on things so it seemed pretty safe.

The Good:

We absolutely loved this location. It was very roomy and tucked away. There were several spots around the lake, many which had their own jetty or fishing area.

The Bad:

Cell service was a little spotty but we managed with our boosters on. We aren't positive the spot we took was an actual camp site. There was a fire ring but also seemed to be a parking area for the fishing dock. We probably wouldn't stay there multiple nights. The other sites near by were taken but looked like more "official sites."
